About
About ZELR
ZELR publishes practical notes on tools, work and the city. Founded and edited by Saliem Talash.
What we publish
Plain, specific pieces on the tools people work with, the money side of working for yourself in Canada, everyday technology, and the city of Toronto. Each note is written to be used: something you can act on the same day, not a think piece.
Each one lists the sources it relies on, with official pages first wherever they exist: the Canada Revenue Agency, the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, the City of Toronto and the organizations that run the places we write about.
How notes are made
- Sources first. Rules, dates, fees and technical claims are checked against primary sources: government pages, the organizations involved and the makers of the tools. They are listed at the foot of every note.
- No invented stories. ZELR does not make up anecdotes, quotes, clients or numbers. When a note uses an example that is not real, it says so.
- AI assistance, disclosed. Notes are drafted with AI assistance, then checked and edited. Each note says so at the end.
- Not advice. ZELR is general information. It is not tax, financial, legal or professional advice. For decisions about your own situation, go to the official source or a qualified professional.
Corrections
Rules and fees change. When a note is found to be wrong or out of date, it is corrected in place and the change is noted at the foot of the note with its date.
